“It’s Happening In The Field”

The shout outs began as a way to recognize and encourage our children in their school work. They get shout outs for outstanding grades, awards, or certificates they received for doing more than just enough. There are times during the year when members of our congregation do something outstanding. The outstanding something might be an adult who was recognized for something on their job, in their child or children school, in their community, or just in life period. There are times our adults go back to school or continue going to school and we like to give them a shout out. Shout outs are done in the worship service. We take a few minutes to call the name of the person and everyone present is asked to stand and shout out the person’s name, clap, yell, stomp their feet, and do whatever they want to do to encourage the person to keep doing what they are doing or to improve, get better at what they are doing. The shout outs help a person's self-esteem and helps them believe that they can do well in life.
